Alex DiMercurio, Artist

Alex's work is concerned with exploring fleeting moments of reverence. Im fascinated by the slight blur of movement in contrasting shadows created by natural settings. Capturing a split moment in time in which a scene subtly becomes greater than the sum of its parts. It becomes part of a greater essence, merged with light, atmosphere and ether.

She likes to challenge composition to achieve strong contrasting works imbued with light, colour and energy. The work itself is a unique hybrid of painting styles (the contradiction of surfaces reflecting the physicality of the subject matter) where textural impasto paint is complimented by fluid translucent brushstrokes, which reveal a multitude of layers of subtle colour underneath. Letting the paint drip where it wants suggesting energy and fluidity of the work.
